Richard and I start by talking about the industry effects of Steve Jackson Games announcing their desire to purchase game companies. We then barrell through a whole bunch of recent releases (Hirelings, Medieval Mastery, Fallen City of Karez, Mutant Epoch RPG supplements) and show off a couple upcoming games (Viticulture, Sushi Go). It’s all rounded out with Richard leading a discussion about his predictions on the evolution of game printing and shipping.
Impressions welcomes Spielbox to mass distribution in the U.S.! Look for the newest issue from your friendly local game distributor this May! Spielbox, the world’s most widely read board game magazine, has been published in English since the first 2010 issue. It is shipped all over the world. The English version is sent about two or three weeks after the German edition. Spielbox is in its 33rd continuous year of publication by w. nostheide verlag, starting in 1992. Currently, there are seven issues per year.
In Fallen City of Karez, each player will take the role of a lord of one of the guilds who seek to tighten their grasp on the rising city. The players will strive to maintain a balance between keeping the city safe for its citizens by sending exploration parties to defeat any threats, and at the same time attracting to the emerging city new adventurers wishing to fill their pockets with fortunes and their names with glory.
Aldo and Richard discuss our local convention, DunDraCon, with interviews right on the show floor with retailers, asking them what it takes for a new and/or small press publisher to get the game on their store shelves.
